I would like to inform my fellow Brothers, that as of August 1, 2011, I assumed the position of Beta Sigma Beta's Alumni President.

First and foremost, I would like to thank my predecessor, Ron Gorodesky '79, for a job well done. Ron has been instrumental in so many endeavors, to include but certainly not be limited to: the creation of our new kitchen, the recreation of the apartment and our paver program, patio and fencing project.

I would be remiss if I did not also mention Steve Witten '78 for all of his efforts as treasurer. More importantly, I am happy to report that Wit is well recovered from his heart scare last year.

I am grateful to inform everyone that the Alumni Board will remain the same with hope for growth via the addition and involvement of "younger guys." See the board members listed to the left. I have spoken with others about joining our Board and encourage your participation.

I am very excited to inform everyone that one of my best friends, David "don't call me Dave" Minkoff, '81, is the incoming treasurer. Dave held numerous positions during his undergraduate days to include Chancellor, IFC Liaison and White Hat.

The Dynamic Duo of Kenny Dubin '86 and Brad Stoltz '86 are spearheading Homecoming 2011. Homecoming details will follow in a separate article. I encourage everyone to return for a phenomenal weekend with a guaranteed win versus Eastern Michigan.

My fellow pledge brother, Rick Marks '80, will once again assist the brotherhood with Rush. We have numerous legacies and a list of some great kids to recruit. Please email Rick at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and/or me should you know of any undergraduates worthy of being future Beta Sigs.

We are contemplating another Penn State vs. Temple tailgate. Please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if interesting in attending.

A Full House and a Record-Setting Active Chapter
The House is in good condition physically as well as economically. We have 79 active undergraduate brothers, 54 of whom will live in the House this fall. We anticipate a fall pledge class of 20+ without loss of focus toward quality over quantity.

Our undergraduates boast the largest philanthropic event in the country, Curing Autism Now (CAN), a top 5 GPA, a top 5 athletic scorecard and an unparalleled social calendar.

Jeff Marks, Rick Marks' middle son, is the Chancellor for fall 2011. I have known Jeff since the day he was born and very much look forward to working with him and his undergraduate team. Relax, he is much smarter than his dad!

Leave Your Mark on the House – Literally – for a Lifetime
In other news, check out the Paver Patio and buy a paver to ensure your infamy. Larger pavers are also available for Pledge Classes or whatever you deem appropriate.

A Lifetime Dues Plaque is forthcoming to memorialize all Brothers that pay $2,490. The Plaque will be prominently displayed on
the first floor of the House. The $2,490 will serve as your one time/last time dues payment. Mark Halsman '83 had a Beta Sig watch
commissioned, and one will be provided to each brother (while supplies last) who pays his Lifetime Dues. Feel free to contact Ron Gorodesky, Moss Walden '83, David Minkoff and/or me for a raving endorsement.

Your House looks great, so come back and enjoy it. I also encourage you to get involved and feel free to phone and/or email me with any ideas and/or suggestions to ensure the continued success of the only independent fraternity at Penn State.

As one of my best friends and fellow Beta Sig always says, "You never stop pledging." Thank you all for the opportunity to give back to what made my college experience and beyond the greatest 34 years – and counting – of my life. I look forward to seeing everyone this Fall.
