Earlier this month, the Beta Alumni Association Board of Directors finalized their selection for the candidate to fill the position of Executive Director. We are pleased to announce that David "Mink" Minkoff '81 has been selected.

"I am very excited to become the inaugural Executive Director for the Beta Alumni Association. The operating of a fraternity has become very complex in this day and age, and without a national office, the day-to-day activities of Beta Sig have made the roles of the alumni president and treasurer very labor intensive. Most of our alums are not in a position in their careers to devote the time required to run our fraternity. Fortunately, for the past three years, Jeff Licht had the flexibility as he has been in industrial real estate most of his career. I did, too, as I have been a realtor for the past year and a half. However, the paid executive director position will be a welcome supplement to my income, as well as being enjoyable.

My primary goal will be to get a tight grasp on Beta Sig's expenses and to make sure we are spending wisely and not being taken advantage of by the undergrads as well as our vendors and contractors who know that the BAA has been managing from afar ever since its beginning. I plan to be at the house for a few hours every other week (if not more) to show all associated with Beta Sig that "there's a new sheriff in town."

Initially, I will have a learning curve with the accounting side of the fraternity's bank accounts as we will no longer be using the services of Thompson Harner, Inc. I'm confident, however, that this will come easy as I have been using QuickBooks for the alumni bank account, as well as with companies I have previously overseen. I also plan to streamline some of the processes that used to take place between the alumni treasurer and Harner.

Finally, I would like to commend Jeff on the tremendous job he did as BAA president. Not only has Beta Sig improved physically the past three years, so has the caliber of the brotherhood which has also lead to an increase in the number of brothers (89 to start the fall semester). Guys just want to be a Beta Sig. Lichty is my closest friend, and if it's possible, we got even closer since becoming president and treasurer of the alumni association. While Jeff will remain on our BAA Board, I will miss our almost-daily interaction, but won't miss proofreading his newsletter articles and emails to the brothers and their parents, as well as buying beer for Homecoming and Parents Weekend!

I hope to see you all around the house this fall, especially during Homecoming weekend."
