The House Was Rocking!

The weather wasn’t great and the turnout could have been better, but overall, Homecoming 2016 was a success.  Chairmen Jeff Licht ’81 and David Minkoff ’81 were hoping that their 35th reunion would draw more classmates, but even the enticement of a friendly competition between the “Eggs” and “Grapes” didn’t help.

Some of the extra hotel rooms, however, were offered to “friends of Beta Sigs” that attended the University of Maryland.  They joined us for our tailgate which was moved inside the house due to the rain and were quite vocal before the game.  After the 38-14 trouncing of the Twerps though, they were much quieter and very appreciative of our Beta Sig hospitality!

Saturday night featured another delicious dinner prepared by house chef Bobby Scott and the return of Stuart Leon ’83 and his Mas Tequila Orchestra.  They had the house rocking, as usual, and gave “Lichty” the opportunity again to show off his harmonica skills.  The surprise of the night, however, came when Rich Gorodesky ’82 and Rob Kershner ’85 joined the band with their trumpets for a few songs.  It should also be noted that Rich finally showed some “unity” with the Alumni Blue Band at half-time of the game and wore the same colored jacket as everyone else.

Penn State has announced that Homecoming 2017 will be on November 11 versus Rutgers.  As this is late in the season and not a high-profile game, it is very possible that Beta Sig Homecoming will take on a different format this year.  Check future eLetters for updates.
